At sea, Wade raced as a bowman for the Rolex Sydney to Hobart . On the dock, Wade worked as an assistant to the boat captain with all aspects of the boat; initially helping with the commissioning of the yacht after its refit before they sailed it to Australia to prepare for the Hobart. After the race he returned it to Sydney. Wade didn't sail onboard the next year but was quickly called back the next January and became the boat captain managing a major refit, deck paint and Bulb rebuild in 2015.
