Morgan Yachting has been a key part of the Gweilo Program since day 1. Wade carried out all the pre-purchase diligence and has managed all the modifications to bring her up to speed including a rig rebuild, a new keel and bulb configuration, new rudder and has overseen the sail program. After a tough Hobart result in 2018, Wade was appointed skipper in early 2019 that led to a close 2nd place overall in that year's Hobart. In 2020, Gweilo won the Blue Water point score in what was a condensed year with the cancellation of the Hobart race. Even with Wade's commitment overseas with 11th Hr Racing Team, the relationship and close involvement has continued and he is back onboard for 2022.

Chris and I decided in 2017 to venture into the world of Offshore Racing and we were lucky to be introduced to Wade Morgan who has been with Gweilo Racing from day one. Wade is a superior athlete in the world of sailing; a trusted, honest advisor and world class sailor. After listening to our brief and dreams, Wade orchestrated the purchase of Gweilo. He project managed the structural changes needed, was pivotal in the design and sail selection. He also provided first class coaching and mentoring as well as vessel maintenance and management.
