ALFA ROMEO YACHT RACING TEAM
MAXI YACHTS
2002-2017
Wade first started on Team Alfa Romeo in 2000 on the RP80 as a boat builder. Onwards to the RP90 and rigging was now part of Wade's job along with boat building and sailing. Next up it was the RP100 where Neville along with sailing master Michael Coxon elevated Wade to Crew Boss onboard. In late 2007 Neville asked Wade to act as his owners representative for the construction of Alfa Romeo III - A RP69 - liaising with designers, suppliers and the yard. Hands-on in deck and internal design from deck layout to rig and sail specs, colours and finishes. Quite a special interior - CLICK HERE
Sadly she had balance issues so a rebuild at the McConaghy yard in China was actioned. Wade was on site to rebuild the boat with a new hull and rebalance. A massive job but she went on to win many regattas over the next 2 years and many more under her future owner. When not in the shed Wade was the boat captain in Europe. This boat now competes under the name URM in Australia
